Whether you are considering applying or getting acknowledged with what we expect from our members, this is definitely something to read in order to help you figure out if this is the place for you or not! There are some who simply don't have what it takes (or the time to offer it) and this quick checklist is there to help you see what we seek and expect from our members, and obviously, new recruits.
Experience and general behaviour
- Experienced. We expect our members to have a general experience in raiding, preferably high. When experience is lower or lacking, an open-mindness to receive help from fellow guildies.
- Considerate. We expect our members to moreless treat raids as they would treat a dinner out with friends. In other words, you wouldn't leave your friends hanging w/o a word or leave before the main course w/o a word either. Also, regarding loot, we are allergic to greedy raiders.
- Commited. We expect our members to show up for raid prepared (potions, food, repaired, etc) and ready to buckle down and give their 100%, as every other member in raid. Our raids are obviously also filled with jokes and a laid back atmosphere but when it comes down to the fights, everybody's focus is there 100% and we expect the same from new recruits.
Technicalities
- Sign-ups. We do use a web based sign up system that we expect all members to use. This system allows for all to leave a note indicating whether they can attend the raid or not, delays, early departure, etc.
- In game mods. We expect all of our members to have the following mods running:
- Omen - threat meters
- Deadly Boss Mods - encounter announcements and counters
- Recount - damage/healing meters (and oh so much more)
- Pally Power - palading blessing management mod
- only required for paladins
- Grid - raid window setup
- only required for healers
The path to membership
To become a full time member of Of Greater Descent, an applicant goes through the following steps :
- 1. Test Run(s)
- Before being invited to the guild as an initiate, we bring any new recruit to a test run in which we focus mainly on skill and experience. The application itself helps us figure out who might have the qualities we seek for in our raiders.
- 2. Council Vote
- After this test run(s), the members of the council vote on whether this recruit makes it to initiate status or not.
- 3. Initiate Status
- For a period of 2 weeks, the new member becomes an initiate. During this period, we evaluate in more depth the commitment, consideration, skill and experience of the recruit.
- 4. Guild Vote
- After this probation period, a vote is held by the members of this guild. Depending on the results of this vote, the recruit is either promoted, removed or sees his probation extended (seldom happens).
