On the last day of the most successful week of raiding in OGD's history, the raiders were definitely hungry for more!! After downing Gruul and Void Reaver on Wednesday and Thursday, pushing for a fun competition on Friday for a double Karazhan clear, and lastly a dead Lurker in only 2 attempts on Sunday, we were left with a full evening to test our might against Hydross... But, that was far too much time! After only 2 attempts where we fine tuned our strategy, the 25 raiders found their rhythm and proceeded to down the big elemental and his family in a flawless attempt! With just about a minute left before he enrages, Hydross took his final hit and fell to the ground, leaving us with a pair of bracers to screenshot.... Nevertheless, it was a much welcome first kill!! Grats to everybody who got the fat lewt and awesome job on all aspects of the fight!!





With Hydross down by 9h30, we obviously had some time left in front of us and decided to head to Leotheras the Blind, one of the possible next target in SSC. Known to be one of the hardest boss in the caverns, he... proved to be a step up from the big elemental we had just faced! After a little dive in the pool, we all made it safely to his room and managed to get 2 attempts on him, the second one bringing him down to about 85%. With little knowledge about the fight and lacking a warlock gear and spec-wise ready for the encounter, I think everybody was satisfied with the results!!

After what started as a painful evening in The Eye (I blame Pathen), the raiders of Of Greater Descent headed to Serpentshrine Cavern around 9h30 on Sunday to pay another visit to our nightmare of the last few weeks, our dear beloved Lurker. After a quick and painless clear, the raid went on with a few attempts on him, a few little mistakes being done every time. Finally, around 10h30 pm, the raid caught its wave and focused, giving us the best attempt we had ever had as Lurker came close to death with only 10% left! Followed an attempt of bad luck and the final round, where everything fell in place. Losing 5-7 around 25%, the raid managed to stay alive and live through another dive as Lurker submerged with only 1.5% (rolls eyes at Nyct) of HP left, knowing his death was coming. Once again the raid held on and threw on a few more hits as soon as he emerged back out, ready to be taken down!




Good job to everybody last night! It sure wasn't an easy evening but when everybody focused, the difference was easily noticeable. Healers, tanks, dps-ers, everybody did their part and the results are there! And on to.... Hydross?

In our first night of raiding in 2008, Of Greater Descent showed it hadn't lost anything during its two weeks vacation! After a quick clear in Gruul's Lair, the raid decided to head to The Eye to face Void Reaver for the first time this year and proceded to one shot him without hesitation! What a nice start for this new year, clearing both Gruul and VR in one evening, a first for OGD! This now leaves an opportunity opened tonight for Serpentshrine Cavern and Lurker, another boss who's life is hanging by a thread, as many know far too well. See ya all in there tonight! After our last evening in The Eye, I think many here felt all that we needed was another shot at him to get him down.... and they were so right! In only 2 attempts last night, the big robot Void Reaver finally fell down after just over 9 minutes of combat! Everybody learned the dance and the dps, healing and tanking was perfectly done. Great job to all!!! T'was an awesome evening that had many smiling for quite a while after!
